We specialize in those gems that you are less likely to encounter anywhere else, but we also carry the best quality commercial colored stones, combined with the best custom cutting you will find. In fact, we have the most varied selection of quality colored gemstones you will find anywhere, ranging from talc (hardness=1) to ruby and sapphire (hardness=9), with an occasional diamond thrown in for good measure.
Coast to Coast Rare Stones is a cooperative of four full-time professional lapidaries with experience in gemcutting dating back to the early 1970's. We travel the globe in search of unique materials to interest collectors as well as cutting stones that are appropriate for setting into jewelry. We have been involved in the mining of colored gemstones including benitoite and spessartite garnet in California, tourmaline from Mt. Mica in Maine and Northwest Territories in Canada as well as a number of rarer species from all over North America. Our contacts within the gemstone mining industry make it possible to bring you the finest quality at the best price.
We offer geological and gemological consulting with experience in gem site exploration and evaluation. Our backgrounds are listed in "Our People". The Tucson shows are finally over and we want to thank all of our repeat customers as well as our new customers for making the show a successful one. We will be starting a new "monthly special" feature on March 1 with 10 to 15 selected stones from inventory specially priced for the month. The featured stones can be seen either from the link on the home page or the "Monthly Specials" category from the inventory list. Until that time, we would like to extend free standard shipping on any orders placed through the website for the last two weeks of the month from February 15-29, 2012.
